One of the brightest jewels in the nations' parks system, Rocky Mountain offers just about everything...including 14er climbing! Legendary Longs Peak dominates the southeast corner of the park. Among other activities available including fishing, camping, wildlife viewing and approximately 165.8 million hiking trails. The gateway town of Estes Park is a comfy little tourist town as well. For those on wheels, don't miss driving up (or cycling up) Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the country, topping out at 12,143 ft. A tasteful Alpine Visitors Center sits atop the tundra, providing educational displays and a gift shop, too. Unlike your average touristy gift shop, though, the Alpine Center features quality items by many local artists and craftspeople (as well as the usual cheesy overpriced stuff). On the other side of Trail Ridge lies the town of Grand Lake, which is also a fun little tourist spot. Grand Lake is one of the more substantial bodies of water in the state, and it draws fishing enthusiasts from around the world!
