| Alpine Ascents: | Alpine Ascents International is one of the premier mountaineering outfitters in the world. For years, Alpine Ascents was known as "the Everest company", but now they are known as a leading mountaineering authority from South America to Kilimanjaro and from Greenland to the comprehensive and critically acclaimed mountaineering school. Based in Seattle, AAI offers everything from ascents of the world's 8000 meter peaks to trekking adventures the world over, to in-depth courses that serve to educate and prepare students for more advanced climbing. |
| Mount Rainier - AAI Climb synopsis | The four-day Rainier climb is one of AAI's "intermediate" climbs, and is only run 3 times a season. Most climbs on Rainier are done through the Rainier Mountaineering, Inc., who has an exclusive license with the park service. Very few other companies are granted licenses for Rainier. The usual route on Rainier is from the south via Camp Muir, and is generally very crowded. AAI climbs from the northeast via Camp Schurman, a much less populated route. It's a longer trek than the Muir option, but the scenery is fantastic and the relative solitude well worth it! |
