| Alpine Ascents: | Alpine Ascents International is one of the premier mountaineering outfitters in the world. For years, Alpine Ascents was known as "the Everest company", but now they are known as a leading mountaineering authority from South America to Kilimanjaro and from Greenland to the comprehensive and critically acclaimed mountaineering school. Based in Seattle, AAI offers everything from ascents of the world's 8000 meter peaks to trekking adventures the world over, to in-depth courses that serve to educate and prepare students for more advanced climbing. |
| Mexico Volcanoes - AAI Expedition synopsis | The Mexico Volcanoes expedition is on of many international expeditions offered by AAI, and an excellent introduction to expedition-style climbing and higher altitudes than you'll find here in US climbing. This 9-day expedition attempts to summit two volcanoes; Iztaccihuatl, at ~17,340' and then Orizaba, at ~18,700'. AAI compiles the trip itinerary to allow plenty of time for acclimitization as well as experiencing some of the local culture, making for a well-rounded trip that is more than just a "peak-bagging" experience. |
