Day 11 started out relatively late, at 8:00. We spent a liesurely morning breaking camp, packing up our gear, having a big breakfast and heading back down to Terskol. We employed the services of a snowcat one last time, to take our gear from our high camp down to the edge of the glacier at the Barrells. The morning trek downwards was very mellow, under clear skies and calm winds -- another beautiful day!
From the Barrells we took the ancient, single-chair lift down to the tram station, and then back down to Terskol, where our hotel was a 5-minute walk away. The rest of the day was taken up by unpacking, showers, naps, a celebratory dinner and the consumption of truly incredible amounts of vodka. |
