Everyone knows Vail as one of the premier (along with Aspen) ski destinations in the world. And, just like Aspen, everything is pretty much overpriced. The Vail Village is a quaint European-esque collection of shops and eateries, and condominiums and million-dollar homes cover a good chunk of the rest of it. As Vail grows west (the only direction they can go), the towns of Eagle, Avon, and Edwards have all become assimilated in the frenzy for more living space and skiing space. It's a nice place to see, and even if you can't afford to shell out the dough to stay in Vail proper, you can probably afford one of the chain hotels (which are still pretty nice) on the western fringes. The resort itself offers all sorts of activities other thank skiing. Winter or summer, there's always something fun to do at Vail.
