| Glenwood Springs is pretty much the halfway point between Vail and Grand Junction. Coming from the east, the drive through Glenwood Canyon on I-70 should not be missed. The views of the lush canyon and roaring Colorado River are fantastic. For those of us engineering-types, contemplating the feats of engineering it took to build the interstate through this narrow, steep canyon are definitely worth the drive, especially when you consider the minimal environmental impact. Glenwood Springs itself is a fairly heavy tourist spot, with the Glenwood Hot Springs in town, and many historical sites in the area as well. Aspen is about 20 miles south of G.S., so a lot of the poorer Aspenites (i.e. normal people) live around here. |
