| Located in the now-famous (or is it infamous?) South Park area of Colorado, thanks to the TV show of the same name. The South Park area is dotted with small towns, of which Fairplay is the largest. Since it's right on the 285 corridor, the cop(s) in town are a bit rabid about speeders, so watch out. The Fairplay Hotel is the best place to get a bed for the night, and the breakfast there is not to be missed. The "official" South Park merchandise store is located on Front Street, and just about anything that isn't moving has been emblazoned with likenesses of the South Park cast. Also nearby is the town of Alma (at the base of Mts. Democrat, Lincoln, and Bross), which some folks consider a part of the "lunatic fringe". Case in point - a couple summers ago, some guy killed the ex-mayor and destroyed a good part of the town with a front-end loader before the cops could stop him. The town almost went bankrupt rebuilding the damage! |
