| One of the central spots for outdoor activity in Colorado. Next to the rolling Arkansas River, Buena Vista is home to around a zillion rafting companies and a number of wilderness outfitters, who can set you up for everything from rafting to rock climbing to mountain biking. The Collegiate Peaks dominate the view to the west, and most of them are accessed by going through BV. The town itself is pretty small, and features only a few chain-restaurants, but I can personally vouch for most of the mom-and-pop outfits. Of note is the penitentiary just south of town, so don't pick up any hitchhikers in striped shirts! |
